Don’t get caught in the label web

Thank you, Bill Bruehl, for your letter to the editor in today’s Seneca Daily Journal.

Editor:

Come election time let’s not get ourselves trapped in a dumb label web. It’s like a spider’s web. It’s a mindless way of thinking about how you’ll vote that can hurt you. Partisans weave webs and label them so y’all will vote the way they want you to. Partisans know if they get voters hooked on mindless labels, voters will automatically go and vote themselves even to perdition.

People who think Jane Dyer, the candidate for Congress from District Three, is not our kind of representative probably think that way because they unthinkingly believe labels.

But I’ll tell y’all, if you want your kind of human being representing you in Washington, go find out the real facts about Jane. I did. I spent some real time checking on her. I talked to people who know her. I checked out her past because I want the best person representing me in Washington.

I found Dyer aims to get what South Carolina wants and needs. Dyer wants to work with business to bring more jobs for you and your family. I like that. It sounds like smart politics to me. Like you, she wants our state to turn out the best trained and educated children possible ’cause that’ll help make our state richer all ways possible! She wants to take better care of our veterans who have put their lives on the line by improving services right here in South Carolina.

And I found that people who know her, trust her. The woman has experienced life as a mother and grandmother and as a business and military professional. When you get to know Jane Dyer, you’ll find solidity, character, a real person who cannot be easily labeled like a political cartoon.

What you’ll learn about Dyer is that people with good conservative values respect this woman and will vote for her.
