It’s a message she brought to Greenwood Saturday morning.
Dyer, who is the Democratic candidate for Congress in the Third District, was in attendance Saturday as the Greenwood County Democratic Party had its breakfast meeting at Ryan’s restaurant. Dyer is set to square off against Republican candidate Jeff Duncan in November’s general election.
Duncan and Dyer are vying for the Third District seat being vacated by current U.S. Rep. Gresham Barrett, who recently ran for governor.
Dyer is an Easley native and a graduate of Easley High School and Clemson University. She was the first female commander of the Air Force ROTC at Clemson and went on to become a pilot in the Air Force for seven years.
She later became a commercial pilot and has flown for FedEx for the last 20 years.
As she addressed the local Democrats Saturday, Dyer said if she is elected, she will examine how every single policy, bill and piece of legislation that comes before her in Congress affects working American families.
She said bringing jobs to the Third District is of the utmost importance and suggested creating jobs that address the nation’s energy issues could be a solution.
“What are we going to do about energy?” Dyer asked. “I say, let’s start solving those problems here. Let’s start making things that will help us deal with our energy problem. Be it solar panels. Be it wind turbines. … How can we take the knowledge we have right here and put it to work and put our people to work making things to solve our energy problems?”
