Democrat Jane Dyer won the 3rd Congressional District nomination after defeating Brian Ryan B. Doyle on Tuesday, according to unofficial election returns.
Wendy Wolff, of Anderson, considers herself an independent voter, and chose to cast her ballot for Jane Dyer in the Democratic primary not out of party loyalty but because she likes “what I read about her and what she said.”
U.S. Rep. James Clyburn’s endorsement helped, too, said Tweeter Bennett, of Anderson, who voted for Dyer because of Clyburn. Dorothy Wright, of Anderson, liked Dyer’s views and also liked the prospect of ending a woman to Washington.
