Faces of candidates in contested 3rd Congressional District Republican and Democratic primaries will appear in advertisements and mailings, and they may even be knocking on your front door in these final days before the Tuesday primary.

That’s when voters will pick the Democratic candidate and probably will send the two top GOP candidates from a field of six into a runoff for that party’s nomination in a high-profile race for the seat Gresham Barrett is leaving in his bid to become governor.

Here’s a look at their plans for the final primary push:

“We’re going everywhere,” said Jane Dyer, a FedEx pilot from Easley, who faces fellow Democrat Brian Ryan B. Doyle, a syndicated radio talk show host from Aiken in the Democratic primary.

Dyer plans to work the phones and will try to visit all 10 counties in the long district that stretches from Oconee and Pickens counties in the northwest corner of the state to Aiken County on the south. Doyle will be knocking on doors, in newspaper ads, on radio and plans to visit 11 churches on Sunday.

Richard Cash, the Powdersville owner of a fleet of ice cream trucks and a used car business, will be out campaigning with his ice cream truck and handing out free samples as he talks to voters.

His youth brigade has visited 13,000 homes and will continue its door-to-door mission while other supporters will be waving at motorists on the highways. He also has television, talk radio, newspaper and direct mail advertising coverage lined up.

Jeff Duncan, a Laurens County real estate broker and auctioneer, is advertising on network and cable television and plans to work the phones and make appearances at events around the district.

Joe Grimaud, a franchise owner with homes in Chapin and Greenwood, will fly his private plane across the district to shake hands and appear at events while he continues his television and direct mail advertising.

Rex Rice, an Easley cattle farmer and general contractor, will be on the phone, shaking hands and attending events across the district, but not on Sunday, a day he said is reserved for God, not politics. He has television advertising and a mailing planned.

Mike Vasovski, an Aiken physician, plans appearances at events around the district, and will work the
